Uses of Radio and other media crossing in times of trouble

I was on the road when the earthquake hit in Abruzzo. I got the news via SMS. Some sms’s later I knew it was big, but all friends I could think of were safe. Was hard to know were it was. It came then that was Abbruzzo, about end of the day monday. Stefano, from the coast SMS’ed me back that on the sea it had been mild but on the mountains was an apocalypse. Other news came in via the net. The meaningful info, no crap.
The crap was, as always, televised. Politicians, noise, disaster media task force of hyenas.

I am interested in this and it gives the title to the post. Is an initiative from my local radio of choice (when I was still a roman) Radio Rock. Coordination via radio on FM -sms- internet and flow of information puts together 31 trucks to send in in few hours, without a penny and without a centralized “professionally coordinated” organization. Maybe it deserves a study from sociologists and network experts that still like centralization and control.

The news that they don’t want you to know is the following: there was a strong earthwquake already at 11:30… no allarm was given. National media also said that was located somewere else.

and in italian also this one to get a interesting overview on the case of the researcher that had tried to give an allarm some days before…

My friend in the blogsphere found out immediately who built the so solid hospital of l’Aquila: check this out. I have no doubt that many of the nice PUBLIC building that came down in this WELL KNOWN seismic zone will be well built in the same way by similar persons.
To repeat here the name for future, damnatio memoriae IMPREGILO. The wikipedia english page should need an update or better a rewrite. Some voluntary work needed.

Anyway IMPREGILO is the company that should build the bridge over the Messina strait, Berlusconi’s nuclear power plants etc….. Maybe is good to know that this same company have been organizing(?) the garbage collecting in Naples. But stop laughing my foreigner friends… Impregilo is a multinational, moving earth and building ALL OVER THE WORLD…
Ah, In the pic you will see the names of the people that hold impregilo. Benetton is a happy part of it… So be careful to chose well your colors.
