I wonder. What is happening to radio oltranzista?
If you, my dearest casual reader, came here to look for the radio oltranzista files, for poetry, sounds and music, how does it look?
How can I explain the garbage?
To gather a bunch of people together to find out what was the common ground we stand for was the original task of “radio Oltranzista”, the feeling there was something that was worth investigating, refining and “throw to the sky”.
Can I justify you, my casual reader, now that the radio is off, the use of this web site to post fragments of my frustration as a distant spectator of events that feed my anger?
I am thinking about this mechanism while I type this question. My oltranzism is related with anger, double knotted, feed in it’s creative mechanisms by explosive anger compressed like in Marinetti’s “8 anime in una bomba” (8 souls into a bomb).
Italy with it’s anger, frustration and disaster might seem remote here in the north europe. Dutch people are usually kind enough to me to talk about the “beauty”, the “food”, the “family bonds” when they talk about “us”. Some of them are truly in love with Italy. They see through me artists, raw of individual creative, generous people that came out of “the boot of europe”. Is the vision of a tourist? Not only that. Is that there is not much more left. Our recent history is far too complex and too controversial to be a matter for normal conversation. Ok, they should be awaken and see the problem for what it is, a big cancer is devouring Italy and it’s spreading through. Holland, with it’s recent political murders, populist and neo-con parties, tele-visioned political agendas is not immune from derive.
Oltranzism, as a term, relate to the last stand for a principle. Yes, this last stand is intrinsically a call to a fight, or better, the expression of a fight.
I try to think about myself as the common measure that I can try to use to relate to the world. Is a fact that I don’t live in Italy anymore. As well as it is a fact that I carry inside myself the contradictory instances of a language, a history and a culture that is such.
So, my casual spectator of radio oltranzista website, what you find here is not only an archive for a cultural project. Is the mental-emotional space of a human being that stand with his back on the wall as the culture of which he feels to be a representative. I am trying to contribute, with my small forces a better exit than a hopeless last stand.
Italy is bleeding out since years all those who had not a single chance to have a space inside the rotting corpse of it’s politics, culture, art, productive world. The bleeding is not the cause of the rotting, the opposite is true. Even the energy of a Nobel price for Physics as Carlo Rubbia has no space inside Italy (he moved to Spain).
The only possible echo of this last stand of italians is expressed through the network, blogs, web sites, mailing lists, word of-mouth.
It is courious that I share this process of enraged observation with the same friends with whom we have been the remote-but-close spectators of another crackdown, the one of decency and truth in Iraq, via a project called STREAMTIME. Maybe I share the destiny with a group of oltranzists, but it is going to be a sad end to be the “italian” guest at debates about the end of Italy, as I have seen poets, artists, scientists and other splendid people from Iraq do.
I am watching the end of civilization in italy and I am loading like a coil to be able of somehow react to it, because it’s part of me and feeds my creativity.
So in between another rant and an apology, my lonesome casual reader, my disoriented thoughts for this morning.
To the italian readers be sure to go to to read http://www.rifiutizerocampania.org/ were you can find a really well documented and propositive answer to the “emergency” of garbage in Campania.
Why it is important?
1) Europeans should be informed about what is happening in Italy. Italy, one of the founder members of the community is governed by a political class that is compromised with organized crime, with private interests and with criminal activities. This is a european problem!
2) In Italians media all voices from civil dissidence are systematically excluded, deformed and political disinformation is planned and broadcasted as the rule.
3) Italy is facing today problems that other european nations are not immune. It might be your turn later on…
4) A simple principle should be respected: you don’t expect a political solution to a problem caused 13 years of failing policy by him
Why is important for radio oltranzista?
- because we always be connected with independent media and so on their side
- because an opposition by grassroots organizations, local administrations and people of all ages to mainstream media, police, army, camorra etcetera is by definition OLTRANZIST. Like David and Goliath! People of Chiaiano is fighting for their bottom-line basic rights.
- We were shuttered by the images of anti riot police charging elderly citizens protesting for their basic rights in Chiaiano and we want to testimony their fight, as we did for the Iraqi people and other minorities.
- Italy will blow up one of this days…
- I don’t ask you to believe me. Inform yourself! Check here: (in italian) http://www.decretorifiuti.tk/ HOW the ITALIAN GOVENMENT wants to deal with the problem of waste:
The Goverment law is against the italian constitution because suspends the LAW in the region of Campania in favour of an EMERGECY LAW
According to the same law if you protest against the discharge of garbage or organize and express protest you risk 6 years of jail
All the enquiry that have as a task to find who have stolen and poisoned the territory for years have to be given to a SUPER JUDGE appointed by the government himself: THE GOVERNMENT CHOSES HIMSELF WHO IS SUPPOSED TO CONTROL HIM
as a result of this unconstitutional law a enquiry that had produced arrests of crooked burocrats have been blocked
What’s going on?
Government sends the police to hit hard on local population that does not want a ocean of garbage to be hidden under the carpet in their woods, in their park. They made a law that a garbage dump is a military zone, and that to protest agains it leads to 5 years of prisons.
Yeah, because there are terrorists that don’t want garbage to be stored on their water, in their land, on the fields they grow vegetables since generations. So they hit hard.
Would you accept it?
Would anyone accept this?
Resist! Shame on you, bunch of assassins! Down your filthy hands from the people!
I extend my solidariety to Marco Travaglio, an Italian Journalist that is fighting the mafio-catto-masonic post-fascist italian political system.
Thank you Marco!
==================
The story: During a interview in italian public television, Marco Travaglio, an independent journalist that has many times brought to light stories that the power prefers not to be mentioned, have made some comments about the new president of the senate. Elected in the party of Silvio Berlusconi in Sicily he has been asked to explain facts emerged during a investigation about Mafia and reported in a book by Lirio Abbate. These facts consists in a business done together with people then condemned for Mafia.
As a result the conductor of the TV program has been constricted to “abjure” publicy and the program might be cancelled.
The book by Marco Travaglio, “se li conosci li eviti” includes the profiles of “these new italians” that have been elected with a real “coup d’etat” in the most monochromatic parliament of the history of italy in the last elections.
some links about this story: Micromega-online a review with links Beppe grillo: Que viva Franco Beppe Grillo is leading a movement of national protest against the Italian political system via a mixture of internet and shows/political debates. All it’s strategy is based on documented and ironical divulgation of truth that the sytem preferes to be hidden with the usual mix of soccer, tits and asses in TV and the short memory of italian journalism

I received via Jerneja this message about Ljubjana ROG Open social space. ROG is distinguishing itself for concrete support to immigrants, paperless and precarious workers, proving itself to be a useful space open to positive initiatives, both for locals and immigrants, with radio programming, DIY courses and information sharing concrete and open initiatives.
Radio Otranzista wants to express solidarity with people of ROG, and their radio, in their corageous stand against short sighted, patronizing or aggressive policies put in place by those who think because they have been elected they can use the public wealth as their own private property, over the law spirit and letter.
You can sign a on line petition following this link here, take your time and give your support!
We will try to keep you up-to date about the situation there and point you to good sources of information so you can make your mind too…

here is a quick update on the serious matter about the eviction of the ROG factory
(writing dr. Andrej Kurnik)
:::
The truth is that we were trying to legalize self managed use of the complex. It was one of ideas behind the occupation of it. To make it possible for groups in the city to take an empty space and run it in accordance of principles of openness, non discrimination, autonomy and self management. At the end mayor did not want to sign the agreement that was negotiated among the assembly of users of Rog, legal department of municipality and head of city council’s department for culture and research activities. The reason was coup d’etat of mayor that suspended democracy in the city. He runs the city with a small gang of his friends from his business life (he is former manager of multinational chain of stores called Mercator and he is one of the richest person in Slovenia). He completely marginalized city council and competences of different branch of city administration. The agreements you are talking about are his conditions that have no ground in the law. He acts like he is the owner of the city and that he can arbitrary imposes his will on everyone.
Written or not, we have agreement with the city (not its administration and city government) that Rog is an open space. That anyone that respects openness is welcome and Rog will defend him or her. For this reason we’ve said no to mayor when he demanded from us to chase out of Rog the group of craftsmen called Brotherhood of freedom. For this reason (this is at list his statement) he decided to evict Rog and close it. I think that by now it is clear what is at stake and what our struggle is about. It is struggle against an attempt of mayor and investors to turn the city ofLjubljana into company in which all aspects of life are subjugated to interests and logic of this company.
At the end of my post one really good news (although struggle for Rog itself fill us with a lot of joy). Yesterday, despite mayor’s command that we have to leave Rog and that Rog have to be closed down, Asylum seekers and sans papier attending regular Saturday assembly in Social Center Rog established movement called “World for everyone”. It is the outcome of incredible process of self organization of asylum seekers and sans papier. And this process was and is organized in Social center Rog. Today the group of migrant workers that organizes itself in social center Rog presents the first radio show of migrant workers for migrant workers. The show is called “Visa for future” and the name of the movement is IWW (invisibility will soon become invincibility)
Social center Rog is the factory of struggle for freedom and equality. Our commitment has nothing to do with tiny doctrinarian approaches. We will not give up - for the sake of real process in Rog. We will fight for self managed spaces by any means necessary. And we need solidarity.
After 11 days of 24/7 broadcasting, 91 hours of LIVE radio, a full night of open radio…
We go.
I am about to climb the stairs again to the roof and pull the plug.
In the next days, after some well deserved rest, we will work out the recordings, reorganize the archive, clean the gear, pay the bills and answer emails.
My first impression is that it has been a success, how far it will go we will see. Anyway RADIO is not old media, is still the future of media. We showed, I think, that is still a great catalyst of energy, a electrifier of thoughts, a motor for passions more than a communication device. Radio is here to stay, and our small “content driven media rich transformers in the space”, that is radio oltranzista, to this extent is more than a vortex in a sink :)
SO
to all friends, helpers, guests, listeners, stalkers, nice people of the radio, to those who gave us food and shelter with hospitality here in de Balie, to Marc and Heriette, to Weerwoord, to poets and musicians, to dyne.org, to fruity and Fausto, Hansko and J, Sagi and Remo, to Isabelle, to Dimitri, Matteo and Tati, to all the friends that I count upon… to people in the irc channels, in the air, behind the scenes, over the scenes and in between… to those who know they deserve the love i have for them, to mamma, Ines and Olivia, to Agnes and Giuliano and not to forget Marco and Carlo, Rebecca and Helder; NOT THE LAST to Jan that found my wallet and Gremko that found my bike keys…
My deepest THANK YOU and a BIG BIG HUP
… till the next time

Program notes
Morning program is on at the moment I write this. Is a good moment of the day. God knows I would need to stretch with August, but instead I prefere to treasure some calm and music to set up the program of the day.
Today is quite rich, being the last day of live from within [...]
A Brotje met Remo Remotti… the interview is already here, Remo conquers Amsterdam. Don’t miss tonight performance also on video stream from the website of de balie…
It was intime. Maybe too much. The work of plan kruutntoone speack by itself, and the energy they have put in this gig vital and full of colors. An underestimated (in the netherland) jewel of contemporary dutch music. Guest artists guitar equipped noise machine Lukas Simonis and Isabelle Bats.
Check out the abundant and generously [...]
Today steps in, shy but at ease at the same time, El Mahdi Acherchour. He comes in the studio while I am in between two Scorpions (Remo Remotti and Victor Nieuwenhuis). I think in that precise moment i was ending the sandwich made for the “Radio Brotje” program. This note is not a random one.
